How Much is a Million? Students use computation skills to determine what the quantity of a million objects looks like. They will create a new page for the book How Much is a Million?
Magic Squares Students analyze the math behind "Magic Squares". They will use their knowledge of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals to complete a variety of Magic Squares. Zaccaro Challenge Math Challenge problems involving multiplication, speed, and decimals Gas Price Dilemma Students analyze the change in the price of gas over the past 20 years. Using their knowledge of rounding decimals, they will compute a series of problems involving these prices. Paul Revere's Ride Using the formula for speed, time, and distance, students determine how fast and how far Revere and the British were traveling on the night of April 18, 1775. Legos Students will estimate the cost of materials to build the world's largest tower? Yummy Math The Great Thanksgiving Challenge Using grocery store flyers, websites, and coupons, students will put their decimal computation skills to use and compete to create the cheapest (but complete) Thanksgiving Menu for their family and friends. Soda Santa After analyzing soda can holiday display designs, students will estimate and compute the number of cases/cans in a display as well as the value of the display. They will create their own soda can display. Yummy Math

Decimal Challenge Math (Zaccaro) Word problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of decimals.
Sophie's Surprise Students explore linear relationships in a meaningful context. By helping Sophie determine which venue is the most cost effective, students explore the relationships between the two growing patterns and the visual representations in which they are required to present them (table and graph). Magic Squares Students will use their knowledge of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions to complete a variety of Magic Squares. The Lemonade Business Students will use the understanding of multiplication of fractions to find the value of parts of a whole. They must apply this understanding to problems regarding a lemonade business. Collapse Zone Students will use the understanding of multiplication of fractions and whole numbers, experimentation, and problem solving to determine a "collapse zone" for a building. Fraction Challenge Math (Zaccaro) Word problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions. Pool Project Students will use their understanding of volume to design a swimming pool for their HOA.
